Case Study: NHK transforms disaster drills into fun, life-saving games with NOSIGNER's PLAY-BOU!

NHK launches 4 disaster drills in 1 year with NOSIGNER

NOSIGNER collaborated with NHK to address the challenge of making disaster preparedness drills more effective and engaging, particularly for younger generations. The project was initiated by an NHK program team that included survivors of the Great East Japan Earthquake, who sought to evolve traditional, often boring, disaster response training.

NOSIGNER applied its Evolution Thinking methodology to co-create four innovative training programs under the "PLAY-BOU!" concept, transforming drills into fun games. These programs included hands-on activities for resource conservation, cooking, building trust, and visualizing flood hazards. The solution was successfully implemented in a Tokyo junior high school and featured in a special NHK program, receiving a great response. NOSIGNER's work is now being developed into a national curriculum to set a new standard for disaster preparedness training in Japan.
