A Northwest Analytics Case Study
The National Titanium Dioxide Company (Cristal) facility in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah needed to establish world‑class manufacturing by improving efficiency, yield and quality through statistical process control (SPC) and continuous process improvement (CPI). Their existing Yokogawa DCS 3000 and Exaquantum historian lacked real‑time SPC and analytics, so Cristal engaged Northwest Analytics and implemented the NWA Quality Suite (including NWA Quality Monitor and NWA Quality Analyst) to add SPC and manufacturing analytics that plant engineers could support.
Northwest Analytics’ solution automated extraction of laboratory and control data from the Exaquantum historian and pushed updates every fifteen minutes into NWA Quality Monitor operator workstations and supervisory displays; the data is also fed to NWA Quality Analyst for CPI and process capability analysis. The deployment gave operators real‑time event detection and guidance, enabled development of control parameters and set points to improve process performance, provided a quick, low‑cost and flexible rollout, and reduced reliance on external support while supporting Cristal’s move toward world‑class manufacturing.
