Engineering Process Quality For Fasteners Leaders

Bas Components, a UK engineering- and fastener-maker (now part of TT Electronics), faced poor traceability and paper-based SPC that hid process variation, delayed identification of rejects, and weakened operator ownership of quality. To address these issues while working toward ISO certification, Bas Components selected Northwest Analytics’ software—deploying NWA Quality Monitor (with Quality Analyst) via distributor Adept Scientific—to replace manual data collection and SPC.

Northwest Analytics’ solution installed five shop-floor workstations collecting hourly and event-driven measurements from six automated cells (digital calipers, DTIs, Go/No‑Go checks) and generating SPC charts per job, enabling real‑time supervision and operator ownership of quality. The deployment delivered measurable impact: cost savings within weeks, scrap and defects cut to less than ten parts per million, full batch traceability, and a decade of consistent SPC records attributable to Northwest Analytics’ system.
