Uncharted waters Candela's electric C-8 sets world record

The customer, Candela, aimed to prove the viability of long-range electric boating and set a new world record, a challenge that required a high-power charging solution at a location with only a small electrical grid connection. To achieve this, they utilized the Northvolt Voltpack Mobile System.

Northvolt's solution provided a mobile battery system that acted as a power buffer, multiplying the available energy from the small grid to enable fast charging for the boat. This allowed the Candela C-8 to charge quickly and complete its record attempt. As a result, the boat traveled 420 nautical miles, setting a new world record and proving the feasibility of electric maritime transport. The journey also had a 99% lower carbon footprint compared to a conventional boat.
