Powered by Northvolt Taking peak shaving to new heights

Skanska, a construction company, faced the challenge of powering a tower crane at the Slussen project in Stockholm during a period of insufficient grid capacity. To avoid using a polluting diesel generator, they sought a cleaner solution and partnered with Northvolt to use its Voltpack Mobile System.

Northvolt's solution provided mobile battery power to perform peak shaving, boosting the grid connection to meet the crane's high power demands. This approach ensured grid stability and prevented project delays. By using the Voltpack system for seven days, Skanska completely avoided an estimated 1,409 kg of CO2 emissions that a diesel generator would have produced.
