The customer, Norwegian energy provider BKK, faced the challenge of powering an all-electric construction site without access to a grid connection strong enough to handle the high power demands of heavy machinery like excavators. Their goal was to enable zero-emissions construction and eliminate the need for diesel generators.

The vendor, Northvolt, deployed its Voltpack Mobile System, a scalable and mobile battery energy storage unit. The system provided the necessary temporary power, allowing the electric excavator to operate without burning diesel. This solution resulted in the avoidance of 931 kg of CO2 emissions during the short demonstration and proved that such a system could enable a full transition to sustainable, emission-free construction sites.
