Case Study: Scania brings fast charging to remote locations with Northvolt Voltpack Mobile System

By integrating a Northvolt Voltpack Mobile System into a mobile charging solution, Scania demonstrates how to bring fast charging to any location

The customer, Scania, faced the challenge of operating electric trucks in isolated locations like ski resorts where a lack of charging infrastructure and limited grid connectivity were major obstacles. To solve this, they partnered with vendor Northvolt and utilized its Voltpack Mobile System.

The solution involved integrating the Northvolt Voltpack Mobile System into a portable charging container, which provided 560kWh of energy storage and enabled fast charging of up to 150kW for two vehicles without overloading the local grid. This allowed Scania to demonstrate that the electrification of its truck fleet is possible immediately, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 90% per vehicle without having to wait for permanent charging infrastructure to be built.
