University of Virginia upgrades 20 sites and replaces 68 more with Northern Commerce

The University of Virginia's ITS team faced the challenge of centrally managing over three hundred department websites with escalating costs, outdated Drupal versions, and a need for a scalable, secure, and brand-governed platform. They partnered with Northern Commerce to implement a solution using Acquia Cloud Site Factory.

Northern Commerce implemented the Acquia Cloud Site Factory platform, creating a modern, templated publishing system that allowed UVA to rapidly upgrade and consolidate websites. The solution enabled the IT team to spin up new, compliant sites in under an hour, amalgamated 68 legacy sites, and significantly reduced the cost of ownership per department while winning a 2020 WebAward for Standard of Excellence.
