City Of New Braunfels builds Zipp Family Sports Park on 153 acres with Norris Design

The City of New Braunfels sought to develop a 153-acre donated ranch into a premier sports park to serve its rapidly growing community. They faced the challenge of creating a top-tier playing field experience on a topographically complex site. The city enlisted Norris Design for landscape architecture, master planning, and parks & recreation planning services to address this.

Norris Design created a two-phased master plan that worked with the natural land form to save money and create a sustainable drainage system. Their solution integrated the park into the surrounding neighborhood and provided for future growth. The design reduced operations and maintenance costs through sustainable design and imaginative irrigation, freeing up funds for further development. The local EDF invested $15 million to develop commercial acreage to support the park, resulting in the Zipp Family Sports Park, a high-performing complex for tournament-level baseball, softball, and soccer.
