Case Study: UAHN achieves a successful Epic big bang go-live with Nordic

A Nordic Case Study

Preview of the UAHN Case Study

Nordic leads complex post-merger implementation of UAHN

UAHN, then known as Banner — University Medicine, is an academic medical center in Tucson, Arizona that was undertaking the largest and most complex project in its history: a merger and enterprise-wide Epic implementation. As it moved to install multiple Epic modules across two hospitals and dozens of outpatient clinics, the organization needed help aligning disparate technology platforms, workflows, and cultures. Nordic was brought in to support the effort with experienced consulting resources.

Nordic assembled a team including project leadership, analysts, trainers, technical staff, and go-live specialists to guide UAHN through planning, implementation, and a big-bang go-live of Epic Enterprise on Nov. 1, 2013. The result was a successful launch with more than 7,000 users adopting new systems and workflows, strong CPOE and barcoded medication administration adoption, solid charge capture, and minimal revenue-cycle disruption. Nordic later continued to help UAHN centralize authorizations and improve access, lowering turnaround times, denial rates, and increasing schedule availability.
