Bellin Health, a community-owned not-for-profit health system in Northeast Wisconsin, needed help implementing Epic’s electronic medical records system through a Community Connect-style model shared with ThedaCare. Because Epic did not assign a standard project team, Bellin turned to Nordic for experienced consulting support to manage the complex, highly collaborative install across multiple organizations and hospital sites.

Nordic assembled a 16-person team to lead workflow design, system build, testing, training support, and staff coaching for the Epic implementation. The project went live on time in June 2012, at three hospital locations and under budget for implementation services. Within three months, Bellin’s Epic teams were self-sufficient without consultants, and patient satisfaction indicators improved, with departments reporting under 2 on the Wong-Baker FACES pain scale within a month of go-live.
