Case Study: CRU achieves a flexible, future-proof cloud platform with Nordcloud and Azure

Moving from a traditional data centre to gain the benefits of the Azure cloud platform

CRU, a privately owned information services company in the United Kingdom, needed to move away from a traditional data centre architecture that was limiting innovation and flexibility. Nordcloud worked with CRU to assess their estate of internal and external web applications, database backends, and supporting services, and to explore how Microsoft Azure could better support their development and production needs.

Nordcloud implemented a phased migration to Azure, starting with Development and Test environments and using templated IaaS/PaaS deployments via ARM Templates to deploy complex environments consistently. The result was a more elastic, pay-as-you-use infrastructure that reduced infrastructure management overhead, improved developer productivity, and positioned CRU to run more of its stack on PaaS, including Azure App Services and future migration to Azure SQL.
