Konecranes, a Finland-based manufacturer in the aviation and transportation sector, faced a fast-approaching SOLAS safety requirement that all container weights had to be accurately known before ships sailed. To help meet the deadline, Konecranes partnered with Nordcloud to build a cloud-based weighing solution using AWS and related managed cloud and application development services.

Nordcloud delivered a fully serverless solution in just 8 weeks, combining lift trucks, weight sensors, a tablet interface, and API-based ERP/TOS integration to capture and share container masses without disrupting normal operations. The system enabled faster static weighing, accurate dynamic weighing, and retrofit support for existing equipment, helping Konecranes gain a market advantage and achieve a return on investment in only 3 months.
