Connecting applications to data — IndustryHack API for Gasum

Gasum, a Finnish natural energy gases company, needed to make a large amount of operational data available for participants in its 48-hour IndustryHack competition. Nordcloud was brought in to help create a unified, reliable, and well-documented API so teams could quickly access and understand the data without spending valuable time on setup or technical integration.

Nordcloud built a cloud API platform using AWS services including Redshift, RDS, API Gateway, and Lambda, and prepared the data by anonymizing, cleansing, and importing it to the cloud. The result was a secure API accessed via API keys that enabled contestants to use the data easily, helped produce many innovative applications during the weekend, and received positive feedback for accelerating innovation and reducing backend integration friction.
