From eCommerce platform to a Document Management System

Crane Partners AS, a company that issues certificates for heavy equipment, was running an outdated ASP website that was hard to maintain, required many manual steps, and was not mobile friendly. They needed a site with Document Management features including dynamic PDF generation for certificates and reports, a role-based form builder, multi-user/department support, and a responsive design. Comelite IT Solutions selected the nopCommerce platform (nopCommerce core) as the foundation for the rebuild.

Comelite implemented an ASP.NET MVC solution reusing the client’s hosting and heavily customized nopCommerce core to create departments, reports, certificates, a custom form-generation engine, HTML-template PDF generation using webkit2html, AJAX-driven UX and a responsive nopCommerce theme. The result is a fully upgraded nopCommerce-based site that functions as a DMS: users can generate dynamic PDFs, build and search custom forms, collaborate and share documents, and migrate legacy data — significantly reducing manual steps and improving overall efficiency.
