CP‑Carga, the freight division of Portugal’s national rail operator, needed to implement condition‑based maintenance for ageing diesel‑electric locomotives that offered only a limited set of remote signals. Nomad Digital was engaged to deliver Remote Online Condition Monitoring and Intelligent Fleet Management to capture operational telemetry and support a move away from purely time‑based maintenance.

Nomad Digital implemented an onshore centralized server to provide real‑time and historical data (location, operational parameters, fuel level, diesel engine systems, alternator, heat exchangers, etc.) and — working with EMEF as Nomad Tech — selected and fitted additional sensors (pressure, temperature, speed, level) to fill signal gaps. The solution enabled CP‑Carga to perform remote condition‑based maintenance, gain continuous fleet visibility and reduce the risk of unplanned failures, improving maintenance efficiency and fleet availability.
