Comboios De Portugal needed to cut operational and maintenance costs across its regional railcar fleet and establish Portugal’s first Remote Online Condition Monitoring (ROCM) capability. To meet that challenge the operator worked with Nomad Digital to deploy an ROCM / Intelligent Fleet Management solution (delivered via the Nomad Tech joint venture with EMEF) to enable continuous remote monitoring of rolling stock condition.

Nomad Digital’s system collects data from existing on‑board equipment and sends it to an on‑shore central system for automated analysis and decision support for operations and maintenance teams. The deployment produced clear gains: no-defect-found faults fell by 27.5%, reliability rose by 12.5% and availability improved by 9.5%, delivering measurable operational and maintenance benefits.
