Research network Deutsches Forschungsnetz (DFN) chooses Nokia for core router upgrade

Deutsches Forschungsnetz (DFN), a German research network, required an upgrade to its core router infrastructure to meet the future demands of its scientific participants. The organization selected Nokia to modernize its network by deploying new Nokia 7750 Service Routers.

The solution from Nokia involved a rollout of high-capacity core routers to replace legacy equipment, following a successful prior upgrade of the network's aggregation routers with smaller Nokia devices. The new Nokia IP routers provide a massive total capacity of 108,000 Gbit/s per chassis and support interfaces up to 800 Gbit/s, creating a powerful and future-proof platform that delivers sufficient reserves to reliably serve the research network's growing requirements.
