Case Study: RATP achieves a future-ready all-IP ultra-broadband network with Nokia

A Nokia Case Study

Preview of the RATP Case Study

RATP boosting communications with all-IP ultra-broadband network

Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), the public transport provider for Paris, faced challenges with an obsolete network. Its aging SDH/ATM infrastructure could not handle the data explosion from over 15,000 CCTV cameras and was ill-suited for new IP-based services. RATP needed a scalable, high-availability network to support future growth and ensure operational safety without disrupting current services. They partnered with Nokia for an all-IP ultra-broadband solution.

Nokia implemented a converged IP/MPLS network using its 7705 and 7750 Service Routers, 1830 Photonic Service Switches, and the 5620 Service Aware Manager. This created a single, resilient infrastructure that integrated all applications, replacing five separate legacy networks. The solution provided the scalability for future services like 30,000 HD cameras, reduced total cost of ownership, and improved operational efficiency through a unified management platform, all while ensuring a smooth migration.
