Case Study: Asia Pacific operator boosts optical network scale and resiliency with Nokia

A Nokia Case Study

Preview of the Asia Pacific Case Study

Asia Pacific operator modernizes national optical network to increase scale, agility and availabilty

A large tier-1 operator in the Asia Pacific region was facing challenges in scaling its optical network to meet rapidly growing data traffic from its wireless and broadband services. The company needed to increase network capacity, improve user experience, and boost resiliency and agility. To address these challenges, the operator chose to modernize its infrastructure with Nokia's optical transport solutions, including the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS) and Photonic Service Interconnect (PSI) platforms.

Nokia implemented a solution featuring high-capacity packet optical transport network switches and a Multi-Region Network architecture with GMPLS intelligence. This provided the operator with a network capable of scaling up to 48 Tb of switching capacity, significantly improving scale, flexibility, and availability. The deployment reduced total cost of ownership through superior bandwidth management and enabled the operator to meet strict service-level agreements, ensuring high service quality for its nationwide 4G, 5G, and FTTx customers.
