How TETN improved its commodity internet service provided to the Education Service Centers in Texas

Texas Education Telecommunications Network (TETN) provides video, voice, data, and internet services to 20 Texas Education Service Centers and more than 900 school districts and charter schools across Texas. To keep its commodity internet offering competitive and reliable, TETN needed a real-time internet routing optimization solution that could automate manual BGP processes, reduce the risk of misconfigurations, and improve visibility into provider and middle-mile performance. The vendor was Noction, and the product used was Noction IRP.

With Noction IRP, Noction helped TETN move from a reactive routing approach to proactive network optimization and automation. Over four months, the platform optimized more than 185 TB of traffic and generated over 1 million route improvements to edge routers, reducing average latency by 26% and packet loss by 84%. According to TETN, Noction IRP enabled the network to perform at full capacity while requiring minimal engineering input.
