DQE Communications, a Pittsburgh-based network solutions provider, needed a way to continuously monitor traffic across its upstream peers and proactively route around outages, congestion, and bandwidth limits for a client serving suburban public school districts and career centers in southwestern Pennsylvania. Vendor Noction provided its IRP route optimizer to help DQE improve connectivity between school districts, Internet2, and commodity Internet.

With Noction IRP deployed, DQE gained continuous route analysis and automated traffic steering to the best-performing peers for key prefixes. The solution optimized more than 480 TB of traffic and announced over 700,000 route improvements in just over three months, reducing average latency by 29% and packet loss by 84%.
