Bandwidth.com achieves automated resolution of ISP degradation with Noction Intelligent Routing Platform

Bandwidth, a fast-growing US communications technology company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, needed a better way to manage BGP route degradation across its two ISP connections. Although its DR/BC setup could quickly switch providers during outages, degraded BGP sessions prevented automated failover, creating disruption and increasing the burden on the network team. Bandwidth turned to Noction and its Intelligent Routing Platform (IRP) to help proactively react to outages, automate routing adjustments, and improve visibility into ISP performance.

Noction’s IRP optimized Bandwidth’s traffic in real time, first in a transparent lab mode and then in live “intrusive” mode, automatically selecting the best BGP paths as conditions changed. Over six months, Noction optimized more than 4 TB of traffic and announced over 100,000 route improvements, reducing average latency by 24% and packet loss by 95% for analyzed prefixes. The results helped Bandwidth strengthen its SLA, improve customer experience, and free engineers to focus on higher-value work.
