SafeSave, the integrated payments division of SofterWare that serves nonprofit CRM customers, faced growth constraints from a direct integration with a single major processor: limited product choice for ISVs, weak negotiating power on rates, poor cross‑border flexibility and the full burden of security and PCI compliance. To expand its PayFac capabilities and offer more flexible embedded payments, SafeSave partnered with NMI and adopted the processor‑agnostic NMI gateway.
NMI’s gateway gave SafeSave access to hundreds of acquiring partners, the ability to tailor processor choices for U.S. and Canadian merchants, and a meaningful reduction in PCI scope by shifting compliance responsibilities onto NMI. The result was broader, omnichannel payment capabilities, improved pricing and profitability, and measurable scale — SafeSave now processes over $3 billion in annual payment volume with streamlined compliance and support from NMI.
