Verendrye Electric Cooperative improves system analysis with NISC’s hour-by-hour model

Verendrye Electric Cooperative was challenged by the inaccuracy of its seasonal energy usage models, which often led to incorrect equipment sizing and costly field rework. Seeking greater precision, the cooperative turned to vendor NISC and implemented its Operations Analytics (OA) platform to harness actual meter data.

NISC's solution integrated data from multiple sources, including GIS and their Meter Data Management System, through the Operations Analytics platform and the Distributed Engineering Workstation. This provided Verendrye with granular, hour-by-hour system analysis, replacing estimations with real data. The results included significant cost savings from properly sized equipment replacements and new construction, as well as the ability to prevent issues related to transformer overloading and line loss.
