A NISC Case Study
Mason PUD 3, a public power utility in Washington, faced the challenge of modernizing its aging grid infrastructure while encouraging its customer base, which includes a large number of older and seasonal residents, to adopt new digital and automated ways of managing their energy. The utility partnered with vendor NISC to implement a suite of fully-integrated solutions, including a new customer information system, meter data management, and outage management software.
By implementing NISC's integrated system, which included SmartHub for customer engagement and an outage management platform, Mason PUD 3 achieved significant results. These included improved outage response and customer communication, with 90% of outage reports now being made through automated channels. The project also yielded new operational efficiencies and even created an opportunity to expand fiber optic broadband service. NISC's technology was key to the utility's successful grid modernization.
