GVEC streamlines DER interconnections across 3,500 square miles with NISC

GVEC, an electric cooperative serving a 3,500-square-mile territory around San Antonio, faced the challenge of managing rapid growth in distributed energy resources (DER) like solar, batteries, and electric vehicles. These new technologies increased system demand and created complex manual processes, such as handling interconnection agreements. To better serve its members and stay ahead of industry trends, GVEC partnered with its software solutions vendor, NISC, for a modern DER management solution.

NISC implemented a suite of software solutions, including a DERMS platform, automation tools, and data analytics through Consumer Analytics and Business Intelligence. This automated previously manual processes, improved customer targeting and communication via SmartHub, and provided critical data insights. The results were a more manageable and trackable interconnection process, enhanced member services, and a strong, transparent partnership that allows GVEC to focus on delivering future-ready technologies to its rural membership.
