BrightRidge, a public power utility in Tennessee, faced declining electricity sales and sought to diversify its revenue streams while incentivizing economic development in its service area. To address this challenge, BrightRidge partnered with vendor NISC and utilized its iVUE Connect platform to support its new venture into offering broadband and cable services.
NISC provided a single software solution that integrated the management and provisioning of these new broadband services with BrightRidge's existing electric utility operations. This allowed for a smooth market entry and efficient customer service. The results included an estimated $41 million in cumulative revenue for the electric division by 2030, and the ability to offer service to approximately 61,000 customers upon project completion, spurring economic development and providing a competitive alternative in the market.
