The customer, Transtar Insurance Services, was facing a challenge securing appropriate auto liability coverage for a 36-unit Ohio-based fleet client that was experiencing significant growth. Although the fleet had a strong safety record, traditional underwriters perceived its expansion as a liability. The account executive, Brad Robinson, partnered with the vendor Nirvana, which utilized a telematics-based service to accurately assess risk.
Nirvana's solution was to use the fleet's own telematics data to get a complete, data-driven view of their operations, analyzing day-to-day driving behaviors rather than focusing solely on rare violations. This allowed Nirvana to determine the fleet was 88% safer than its peers, enabling them to provide the necessary $1M coverage. The solution also made the broker's job easier by automatically pulling mileage and driving data, eliminating the administrative burden of monthly client reports.
