Tararua District Council Standardizes Processes and Improves Accountability

Tararua District Council, a compliance-focused local government body, discovered gaps between how staff thought processes worked and how they actually operated. Using Visio left them with slow, hard-to-update flowcharts and exposed the council to regulatory and induction risks — for example, newly elected councillors missed critical briefings on Iwi relationships — so they needed a faster, clearer way to capture and maintain processes.

The council adopted Nintex Promapp, cutting process-mapping time to one-seventh of what it took in Visio and enabling quicker updates, better induction, fewer errors and cost savings. Greater staff engagement, improved oversight and access to a shared local-government process library also boosted accountability and allowed teams to collaborate and implement changes more autonomously, reducing compliance risk and improving service delivery.
