A Nintex Case Study
BC Ferries, which carries more than 20 million passengers across 35 ships and 47 terminals in British Columbia, faced a time-consuming, paper‑based process for updating policies and procedures that left crews relying on bulky binders (about 26 feet per ship) and caused infrequent updates and regulatory risk — sometimes delaying changes for six months or more.
Working with itgroove, BC Ferries implemented eFleet using the Nintex Platform, SharePoint Server 2010 and Muhimbi to automate a 340+ step approval and publishing workflow used by hundreds of authors and 50+ approvers. The solution converts and combines documents into searchable PDFs, processes over 10,000 documents in under five hours, reduced costs (avoiding three times the spend of the old path), enabled weekly updates, improved employee efficiency and made critical safety and regulatory information easy to find.
