North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) provides administrative and support services to NHS hospitals, clinical commissioning groups and GP practices and employs about 1,100 staff. Facing largely paper-based processes that hinder patient‑centric service delivery, NECS evaluated several workflow platforms and selected Nintex K2 Five for its cost-effectiveness and G‑Cloud approval.
With partner-led implementation and training, NECS automated key workflows (notably rail and hotel bookings), cutting process time by 73% and saving users about 17 minutes per trip request. That automation handles roughly 2,500 requests a year (saving an estimated £45,000) and contributes to projected annual savings of £205,000 as additional processes—such as Serious Incident Root Cause Analysis and Proposal Management—are rolled out.
