Landsbankinn, Iceland’s largest bank serving 143,000 retail and corporate customers, faced slow, paper-based internal processes that required many manual handoffs. Loan authorizations could take up to five days, customers had to sign documents in person or by mail, and HR workflows for 900 employees across 37 branches were slow and hard to track — creating efficiency, security and compliance challenges.
By building over 40 automated workflows with K2 Software (K2 Five), the bank digitized loan approvals, customer signatures and HR requests, running 25,000 workflows in the first two months. Results include loan authorizations cut from up to five days to one day (80% faster), HR approvals reduced to one day, customer application times shortened by up to a week through online signing, reduced paper use, stronger traceability and improved regulatory compliance (including automated GDPR responses).
