The City of Karratha faced rapid growth as mining activity brought new families and major infrastructure projects to a remote council area. That boom created staffing influxes and steep learning curves—many new employees were unfamiliar with public‑sector rules, processes were inconsistent or out of date (raising procurement and compliance risks), and state pressure to find efficiencies meant the council had to improve internally rather than through amalgamation.
Karratha implemented Promapp to centralize, co‑design and standardize its processes, embedding links, forms and guidance so staff have a single, up‑to‑date source of truth. With around 600 processes mapped and more than half the staff trained, the council reports faster onboarding, stronger compliance and auditability, clearer roles during absences, streamlined workflows and better organizational resilience.
