A NING Case Study
The National Peace Corps Association, an independent nonprofit connecting Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, needed to centralize a scattered alumni community into a single, private online space. With limited funds for a custom build, they turned to NING’s hosted social network platform (community.peacecorpsconnect.org) and an out‑of‑the‑box design template to create a members‑only community that preserved privacy and authentic peer-to-peer interaction.
Using NING, NPCA created the largest online Peace Corps social network—growing from zero to 10,000 members in the first year and now topping 26,000 members—with over 13,000 photos shared and consistently high response rates to surveys and event posts. NING’s tools (groups, shared calendar, member export for newsletters and privacy controls) delivered measurable engagement gains and a dependable core channel beyond mainstream social sites.
