Aero Xpertise Leverages Nimbix Cloud to Help Gogo Provide in-flight Internet and Optimal Aircraft Aerodynamics

Aero Xpertise LLC, led by independent aerospace engineering consultant Will de Jong, uses computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to solve aerodynamic design problems for clients like Gogo. The challenge was that his in-house cluster could take 8 to 12 hours per simulation, limiting how many high-fidelity runs he could complete and making it difficult to meet tight project timelines without sacrificing accuracy.

By using Nimbix Cloud with Siemens STAR-CCM+ power-on-demand licensing, Aero Xpertise was able to run larger CFD simulations faster and in parallel. Nimbix reduced turnaround time by up to 83%—from about 12 hours to under two—and lowered licensing costs, while improving mesh fidelity and enabling more design iterations, better aerodynamic optimization, and lower total simulation cost for Aero Xpertise and its customers.
