American Family Insurance faced a persistent lack of reliable, transparent IT cost data, a growing backlog of manual information requests, and time-consuming total cost of ownership (TCO) studies that hindered data-driven planning. To improve IT cost transparency, service consumption visibility, expense efficiency and analytics, AmFam selected Nicus Software and deployed the Nicus ITFM Suite (Planning, Cost Modeling, Bill of IT, Application TCO).
Nicus Software implemented its IT financial management solution (deployed July 2016–Jan 2017), centralizing IT financial data and automating TCO and showback calculations. The Nicus implementation created cross-organizational transparency across 25 operating divisions and 2,600 agents/business partners, cut TCO turnaround from weeks or months to as little as an hour, enabled chargebacks based on actual expenditures, supported benchmarking, and allowed the I/S team to handle a 400% increase in ITFM requests.
