Siemens standardizes labeling across its global factories to drive new levels of efficiency

Siemens, a global electronics manufacturer, needed to standardize on-demand labeling across its factories after years of using fragmented, hard-coded, and locally developed label solutions. The inconsistent environment created challenges with multilingual labels, printer variation, and poor version control, making it difficult for IT and operations teams to maintain efficient, best-practice labeling processes. Siemens used NiceLabel LMS to address these issues.

NiceLabel implemented a centralized label management system integrated with Siemens’ PLM, MES, and ERP systems, with business rules handled through the Automation module. The result was a major performance and scalability improvement: label print time dropped from 8 seconds to 300 milliseconds, ROI was achieved in less than 4 months, and the solution expanded to 22 sites and 1,200 printers. NiceLabel also enabled Siemens to offer the platform as a best-practice labeling service across other factories.
