Domtar, a large North American manufacturer of fiber-based products, needed to modernize its legacy labeling environment across multiple mills and converting locations. Its manufacturing and sales systems were not integrated, which led to inconsistent labels, manual maintenance, and difficulties meeting strict SLAs for fast, reliable label production. Domtar turned to NiceLabel and its Label Management Solution to improve consistency and customer service without disrupting its existing MES.

NiceLabel implemented a centralized labeling approach that integrated data from Domtar’s MES and sales systems, standardized customer-facing labels on common templates, and enabled centralized design, review, approval, and version control. The solution reduced hundreds of templates to 20, supported NARI-standard product identification, and added redundancy for business continuity. As a result, Domtar improved production uptime, met its 24x7 operational demands, accelerated label change requests, and delivered more consistent labels that helped eliminate operational and supply chain delays.
