How Chr. Hansen modernized labeling to streamline processes and SAP integration with a validated system

Chr. Hansen, a global bioscience company, needed to modernize its business-critical labeling process. Its custom-built system was costly to maintain and validate, labor-intensive to use, and lacked the 24/7 support required for nonstop production. The company turned to NiceLabel LMS to replace the aging platform with a standard, web-based labeling environment that could integrate tightly with SAP and support regulated operations.

NiceLabel implemented a label management solution using its SAP ABAP package, print queue functionality, web printing application, and variant technology. The new system improved template design, enabled delayed label printing from SAP, supported local failover for 24/7 availability, and successfully passed validation in early 2019. Chr. Hansen also reduced and consolidated label templates, improved the user experience, and aimed for a global rollout by the end of 2019.
