A NICE Public Safety & Justice Case Study
Merseyside Police, the fifth largest police force in the UK serving about 1.5 million people, faced an overwhelming growth in digital evidence that stretched investigators: 90% of required digital evidence couldn’t be accessed in a timely manner, forcing staff to log into multiple systems, email, phone and physically travel to gather recordings. To address these challenges, Merseyside Police partnered with NICE Public Safety & Justice and deployed NICE Investigate.
NICE Public Safety & Justice implemented NICE Investigate on Microsoft Azure to collapse evidence silos into a single, searchable interface, automate collection and correlation of 999 calls, body‑worn video and other media, and provide secure, auditable sharing. Rolled out to just under 6,000 users, the system has ingested over 500,000 cases and 4.6 million searchable evidence items (matching 1.6 million to active cases), drastically reducing wait times, improving investigators’ ability to charge suspects and delivering measurable efficiency gains—including reported improvements such as a 25% increase in efficiency when responding to evidence requests.
