The Independent Office for Police Conduct oversees police complaints in England and Wales and needed a faster, more secure way to receive and preserve digital evidence—issues made more urgent by COVID-19, remote working and incompatible CCTV formats. Following a procurement, the Independent Office for Police Conduct selected NICE Public Safety & Justice’s NICE Investigate Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) to streamline evidence transfer and maintain evidential standards.

NICE Public Safety & Justice implemented NICE Investigate/DEMS to automatically transcode video for instant playback, provide secure electronic sharing and detailed audit trails, and reduce reliance on physical media and storage. The solution improved investigation timelines, cut security and storage risks, preserved assets to evidential standards, and enabled more efficient sharing with police forces and the Crown Prosecution Service.
