Cleveland Police Digitally Transforms with NICE Investigate

Cleveland Police, the 1,500‑officer force serving Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton, faced rapidly growing volumes of digital evidence, an estimated 4,500 CCTV collection trips per week, and urgent COVID‑19 driven needs to limit in‑person evidence handling. To address these challenges they selected NICE Public Safety & Justice solutions, initially deploying NICE Investigate Xpress and then rolling out the full NICE Investigate digital evidence management platform.

NICE Public Safety & Justice implemented a fast, cloud‑based workflow—starting with NICE Investigate Xpress for rapid pandemic‑era adoption and moving to force‑wide NICE Investigate—enabling online public appeals, a Public Portal for discreet digital uploads, CCTV camera registration and secure, audited sharing with the CPS. The result was major efficiency gains for officers (drastically reducing routine collection trips), improved community engagement and evidence intake, automated virus‑checking/transcoding and a fully electronic, auditable disclosure process that preserves chain of custody.
