A NHS Employers Case Study

Preview of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Case Study

Working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to provide opportunities to unemployed

The customer, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, partnered with the vendor NHS Employers to address the challenge of local youth unemployment and to build a talent pipeline for its own future recruitment needs. The trust aimed to leverage its resources to help young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET) gain skills and work experience.

Through the NHS Employers' PROSPECT programme, the trust provided a structured 14-week initiative combining a two-week induction with 12 weeks of on-the-job training across various hospital departments. This solution from NHS Employers delivered significant results: 82.5% of the 126 participants gained employment, a success rate surpassing regional and national averages. The programme also supported the trust's corporate social responsibility agenda and directly contributed to the creation of new job roles within the organization.
