University College London Hospitals - Customer Case Study

The customer, University College London Hospitals, worked with the vendor NHS Employers on a communications strategy to increase staff flu vaccination rates. The challenge was to creatively engage a large, geographically spread workforce and encourage them to get their annual flu jabs.

NHS Employers helped implement a solution that centered on a staff video competition promoted via Instagram and the trust's intranet, supported by daily computer pop-up reminders. The measurable impact was significant: the campaign generated 40 videos and over 3,600 views, contributing to a record number of vaccinations. By January 2014, 3,196 staff had been vaccinated, with 94% of those having direct patient contact. The efforts by NHS Employers successfully used innovative communication to directly improve health outcomes.
