The University of Sheffield - Customer Case Study

The University of Sheffield wanted to move health and wellbeing from a “perk” to a central part of staff engagement, after its 2012 staff survey showed room for improvement despite generally positive morale. Working with NHS Employers, the university launched Juice, a staff health and wellbeing engagement strategy designed as a one-stop shop for information, activities and support.

NHS Employers supported the rollout of Juice through pilot phases and a mix of online resources, free onsite activities, and links to occupational health and counselling services. The programme quickly scaled to all staff, with more than 2,200 employees taking part in at least one activity, strong five-star user ratings, and a notable rise in staff survey scores across engagement measures such as pride, belonging and commitment; early evidence also showed a reduction in sickness absence.
