A NHS Employers Case Study
The customer, South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, faced a challenge in attracting suitable young applicants to its pre-employment programmes. Their job adverts, which bundled all opportunities together, were text-heavy and filled with jargon, causing confusion and leading to multiple incorrect applications from candidates. The vendor, NHS Employers, was involved in providing guidance.
Working with NHS Employers' resources, the solution involved a complete redesign of the job adverts. The Trust gathered feedback from young people and used the national apprenticeships website to make the content simpler, clearer, and free of acronyms. The revamped adverts were structured into distinct, understandable sections and advertised each programme separately. This resulted in a significant increase in both the number and quality of applicants, greatly reducing time spent on the recruitment process for both candidates and staff.
