North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust worked to widen participation and become the employer of choice for its diverse local communities in Enfield and Haringey. To support this challenge, the trust partnered with **NHS Employers** to strengthen community engagement, apprenticeships, and values-based recruitment as part of its wider recruitment and staff development approach.
**NHS Employers** helped showcase a model focused on local outreach, apprenticeship pathways, and recruitment for values rather than qualifications alone. In 2013/14, the trust recruited 55 apprentices, with 19 moving into full-time roles at the trust and 13 into other trusts or private sector jobs, demonstrating a strong pipeline of talent and improved workforce diversity.
