A NHS Employers Case Study

Preview of the NHS Blood and Transplant Case Study

NHS Blood and Transplant - Customer Case Study

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) worked with NHS Employers to address high turnover, unprepared new starters, and the need to embed a clear values and behaviour framework across the organisation. To improve recruitment for high-volume roles such as donor carers, healthcare technicians and drivers, NHSBT needed a better way to assess whether candidates matched the organisation’s values and the realities of the job.

NHS Employers supported NHSBT in developing an in-house assessment centre recruitment approach, including information sessions, values-based interviews, group activities, and active scenarios. The results were strong: donor carer leavers fell from 19% to 7% by June 2013, manager satisfaction with new recruits improved, staff were better informed, and HR and recruitment costs were reduced.
