Milton Keynes University Hospital - Customer Case Study

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust partnered with **NHS Employers** to tackle a key challenge: improving staff engagement, breaking down silos, and creating a more open conversation about how to move from a “good” CQC rating to “outstanding.” The trust wanted a better way to listen to staff across all levels and address long-standing issues affecting both staff and patient experience.

**NHS Employers** supported the hospital’s “Event in the Tent” staff engagement initiative, a marquee-based mini conference with staff-led themes, keynote speakers, workshops, live streaming, and digital interaction tools. The 2018 event attracted 1,300 attendees, up from 1,100 in 2017, improved engagement with harder-to-reach groups, and generated strong online activity including 649 hashtag uses and 29,535 Twitter impressions. It also helped drive follow-on actions such as a new staff health and wellbeing service, a bullying and harassment advisory service, and an intranet refresh.
